Saudi: Clinic dumping medical waste in residential area: Residents

JAZAN - A Saudi mother here filed a complaint after her son came home with disposed needles and other medical waste, Al-Madinah newspaper reported. The young elementary schoolboy brought home the needles and medical waste which he had found near a health clinic in the neighborhood. The angry mother went to the clinic to see the manager. She accused the clinic of disposing its waste near her home, where her children were playing. She said that the manager promised to take care of the problem but nothing was done. Muhammad Hasan, a resident living near the clinic, said that the Health Affairs in Jazan should punish the clinic for putting the lives of children and other people living in the neighborhood in danger. An official from the Health Affairs in Jazan said the disposal of medical waste was handled by a specialized company. He said that if the claims were true, the clinic would face serious punishment.
